Hi Members,
I hope everyone is doing well! Here are a few items that need your attention.
Tutoring / Service Hours
If you were at our 10/29 meeting, I have given your name and contact information to teachers who requested tutors for their students. If no one contacts you regarding a tutoring position or were not at our 10/29th meeting, please see me in room 504 as soon as possible. Remember, both old and new members need six hours of tutorial contact. Make certain that you keep a good record of your hours and the student(s) with which you have worked, fill out the NHS Service Hours Sheet (located on this website), and turn it in to Ms. Hyatt.
Regarding the rest of your service hours, old members still need eight additional hours, and you may accrue those service hours in any way that benefits the impoverished, women, and / or children. If you have questions regarding the acceptability of your volunteer work, see me. Please be aware that new members now need only get six hours of tutoring in for this fall semester. New members need no additional hours. We will save our big service projects for the spring semester.
Keep checking the website for volunteer / service ideas and opportunities.
Meeting Dates and Times
Our next meeting dates will be November 16th, and 30th. All meetings will be help in room 504 during the first half of SMART lunch. I still haven't decided if we need a December meeting, so I'll have to keep you posted. For each missed meeting, you will need to accrue two additional service hours this semester.
Dues
Dues are $15 and will be due by December 17th, the final day of exams.
Grades
Please be aware that all members are expected to maintain a 3.75 unweighted gpa to remain in good standing with the club. If you feel that you are in danger of slipping below this minimum, please see me as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful, safe weekend!
Ms. Hyatt
